pray

Please, please, please pray for our country and this extremely crucial presidential election. Early poll results are coming in even now. Pray for John McCain (whom I would vote for, could I vote), pray for our nation, pray for it's future. All we Christians need to be hitting our knees and begging God to intervene. Next time I post, we'll know who our next president is. PRAY!

The Rebelution

Has anyone ever heard of Alex and Brett Harris? I sincerely hope so. Alex and Brett are two extraordinary 19 year olds and the younger twin brothers of "I Kissed dating Goodbye" author Joshua Harris. They have a blog called the Rebelution. Actually they have a whole movement which includes conferences, the blog, a website, and even a book, which they wrote at 18. The whole point of the movement (and the word rebelution, which they made up) is starting a revolution among teens to rebel against our society's low standards and expectations for teenagers. I won't try to explain everything because it would take way too long and their site does a better job anyway. So, I'll just provide the link. www.therebelution.com Simple. Go there if you haven't already and check it out. It's really awesome. Read the book too. It's called "Do Hard Things". So stand up. Be different, and join the Rebelution!

Dating and the Bible one

Dating is a rather controversial topic among Christians, but one that I feel I must address. This video is the first in a series of two and I'm going to post the other one soon. This video states my feelings on dating more effectively than any written post ever could. Needless to say after watching this video, my feelings are very unpopular.

Ephesians 6:1-3

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother"—which is the first commandment with a promise— "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

Acts 20:24 "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me- the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace."

Isn't God's grace a wonderful thing?

The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian review

I just went and saw The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian. First off, I'll just say WOW. There that's done. Anyway, this movie was amazing. I'm a huge C.S. Lewis fan and this movie was better than the book. I thought the first one was good, this one makes it look like a Barney rerun. They took a great story, changed a few things, and came out with a story that has a moral lesson, drama, action, adventure, comedy, tear jerker moments, romance, great battle sequences, everything. Take just about ever movie genre there is and this movie probably has elements from it. The visual effects are great, as they were in the first one, the acting is superb, the battle sequences large, suspenseful, and masterfully done, the story is great, and the romance is there without being at all overpowering. Ben Barnes, a somewhat newcomer to film as this is only his third movie, is great. It's a wonder that he's gone as long as he has without being discovered for a major movie. Definitely an actor to keep an eye on. All the children have grown up, which makes the movie a bit more grownup. There are some changes from the book, and I was a bit apprehensive. But, while this movie doesn't follow the book scene for scene, it captures the spirit of the movie and has all the same elements, just in a slightly different order. It does follow some scenes exactly as the book has them though. I had high expectations for this movie and it not only met them, it surpassed them. Four stars out of five.

Where is God?

Where is God when life is hard and scary? Amidst these times of cyclones in Myanmar killing tens of thousands, earthquakes in China killing thousands, and closer to home, a tornado in Picher, Oklahoma wiping an entire town off the face of the earth, it's easy to ask this question. all of these natural disasters are hard to face. And I have to admit, I'm scared. The relatives of people in my church died in the tornado. It's easy to ask "where is God?" But he tells us where He is. Psalm 46:1-3 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore will we not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though it's waters roar and foam and mountains quake with their surging." Verse 7 says "The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress." These verses describe a bit of what's going on right on. But verse 1 and verse 7 tell us where God is. He's right here. In the midst of pain, uncertainty, and grief, He's right here. He knows whats happening and He cares. When life gets hard. When life is scary and unfair, run to God. He'll always be our fortress, our strong tower, our ever-present help in trouble.

Reminder

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." I know that we've all had this verse memorized since about four or five, but it's nice to be reminded occasionally.

Dying to ourselvesc

We have to die to ourselves. It's a basic Christian truth. And it's way easier said than done. I recently had to give something to God that I really didn't want to give up. It wasn't bad I just didn't want to give it to God. It was mine and I wanted it. I finally ended up giving it to God though. And the funny thing was, I actually almost felt something kinda shrivel up and die inside me. It was cool. A small part of me died, and in that space God came in. I was afraid that God would take the thing away from me if I gave it to Him, which is why I didn't. But He didn't take it away, I just gradually lost interest in wanting it. I think that all of us, at one time or another have something that we don't surrender to God. Just give it up. It can come between you and God and make you apathetic and whole lot of other bad things. It's not as hard to give it up as you might think either. You'll feel a lot closer to God and you'll be dying to yourself. Just give it up.

So Long Self-MercyMe

I like this video because MercyMe is just awesome, but besides that. It gives a humorous look at what all Christians must do, which is die to ourselves.

Giving God our lives

We hear about giving God our lives and surrendering to him all the time. But stop and consider this for a moment. God is so great and we are so lowly that the concept of God even wanting our lives is unimaginable. But for some weird reason He does want our lives. It is an unimaginable privilege that we could give him our lives, but so often we don't even do that. You know what I'm talking about, "I'll give you all of this part of my life, but I want to keep that part for me." When we give God our lives, we are letting him take over the management and running of our lives, all we have to do is obey. When we don't give God some small part of our life, not only are we being selfish and rebelling, we are telling God that we don't think He's competent enough to run part of our live, that we can do it better than he can. That is absolutely ludicrous. God created the universe and yet here we are telling Him he's not competent enough to run this small part of our life. Think about that next time God asks you to surrender something to Him.

Toothpaste

My toothpaste is two different colors. Shocking, I know. It's a twist of normal toothpaste that's green and this gel stuff that is also green. How can it be two different colors if it's both green, you ask. Because it's two different shades of green. It's just totally weird. Does anyone else have toothpaste that's more than one color? I read an April fools trick that said to replace the stuffing of an Oreo with toothpaste and watch someone eat it. Not only is that not really nice, it wouldn't work with my toothpaste. An Oreo with two tone green filling isn't very appetizing looking.

Glory Defined-Building 429

This song perfectly defines our hope of heaven. Someday we will go to sleep and wake up to find His glory defined. And when we do we will bow at his feet and praise Him forever. Think how amazing it will be!!

Busy

I recently saw a skit with three girls in it. Two of the girls were Christians and third one was pretending not to be one. The two Christians were peaceful, joyful, and happy and the other girl talked about how she felt so empty and alone all the time. How, every time she found it, a reason for living, it went away. In the skit, the unsaved girl always sat in this room, by herself, in a chair. The two Christians said that someone should go in and talk to her, but they were both too busy. They'd come early tomorrow and talk to her, though. The next day the got there and the girl was gone. She'd gotten so tired of being empty and alone that she committed suicide. At the end one girl said, "are we so busy serving God that we miss the opportunities around us?" Another one said "why is it easier for us to fly half way around the world, than it is for us to walk into the room?" My question is simply this, are we so very busy, even doing good activities for the church, that we can't be bothered to tell the people around us?

This video has such a good message. It's just... there aren't really words. You just have to watch it. None of us are perfect and Jesus is our reason to start over new.

Here Am I-MercyMe

This song is amazing. We all need to have the attitude of "here am I send me". We should want God's will for our life above all else and be willing to do what ever He tells us.

Prayer requests

From now on I want to have a new thing. If anyone has a prayer request you can comment and leave it and I'll pray for you. Hopefully, some of the other readers will too. If you're not comfortable doing that, you can just say unspoken. If you don't like the idea and think it's corny, please no hate comments. Just say you don't like it. This is going to be the guinea pig. If it works here, I'll do it on my other blog. So please comment and let me know what you think.

Morning

Tomorrow is Friday. Traditionally that's the day that Jesus died. Imagine how His followers felt. Jesus had died. All hope was gone. Their Lord was dead. We go through tough times, sure. But I imagine that that would be the ultimate. Then three days later (traditionally Sunday) when all was surely lost. Jesus arose!! We go through times similar to that. Things are hard. Somebody died. Your parents don't have the money to pay the bills. Your dad just lost his job. Things look very bleak, dark, and hopeless. I just want to say that I serve a God who can turn the darkest and most hopeless of nights into the most beautiful and glorious of mornings. It may be Friday but Sunday is coming. After the night comes morning. If it's night for you right now, morning is coming. All is not lost. All you have to do is trust in God and His hope and His strength.

Legacy-Nichole Nordeman

I know we're only teenagers know, but in a few short years we'll be adults. Now is the time to be thinking about what kind of legacy you want to leave and what you want to be remembered for. Do you want to be remembered for having the biggest house or the most money or the nicest cars or do you want to be remembered for serving God with all that you are?

Giving thanks

Giving thanks. The bible says to do it in all circumstances. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says "give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." That's not an easy thing to do. Ya know?

You could be having a pretty bad day, you could have flunked a big test, your annoying big brother could be going above and beyond to be annoying today, a parent could have walked out on your family. These are all circumstances that are hard to give thanks in. But consider this for a moment.

In the midst of Ravensbruck, concentration camp, in the middle of world war II, in a barrack so filled with fleas and other vermin that you couldn't possibly escape from them, Corrie ten Boom gave thanks for everything, fleas and all. Corrie and Betsie ten Boom started having devotional services in their barracks at the end of the day and hundreds of woman came to know Christ through these services. They later found out that the reason they could have these services unhindered was because of, you guessed it, the fleas.

Let's make an effort to thank God in all circumstances. He knows what He's doing and He's giving you these things for a reason.

Anticonformity-Krystal Meyers

Romans 12:2A Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. We, as Christians, have to remember that this world is not our home. We're just passing through. We shouldn't just conform to everyone and everything around us. We should conform to God and his standards for everything we do in our life.

Changes

As you've probably noticed, I've made a few changes on my blog lately. These include: adding a poll, making a list of my favorite blogs (not including my other one) and including the links, and adding more written posts instead of music videos. These changes are to make the blog better for you, the reader. I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me if you like these changes and if there are any others I could make. If you think that things are great as they are, that's good too. Just please comment and tell me your opinion.

Definately Maybe-FM Static

Interesting fact about FM Static. The band may sound a lot like Thousand Foot Krutch to you. That's because it is. FM Static is a side project of TFK. It's all the same band members and everything. It's just a different name. The song is cool too. It talks about a guy and girl and love. It's not mushy though. Tell me what you think.

Activate

I really like the previous music video that I did. "Activate" by Stellar Kart. I like the song because it says that we can't be lukewarm or as in the BarlowGirl song Grey. We can't be content with just living lukewarm, complacent lives. God wants more than that. He wants us to be hot and on fire for Him. Sometimes we have to do a 360 in our lives. Being grey and wishy-washy and spineless about God is not near enough. Sure it'll take sacrifice and you might even lose a few friends or some respect or something, if you take a stand. You might even look like an idiot. But so what. At the end of the day, who's respect do you care about more? God's or some mere human's?

the poll results

If you've read my blog at all for the last couple weeks, you've probably noticed the poll I had. It asked what you wanted to see on this blog and gave the options of: all written posts, all music videos, and a good mix of both. The poll is now closed and the conclusion is (drum roll please) a good mix of both. Thanks to everyone who voted and I'm sorry if that's not what you voted for. See you here the day after tomorrow for a new day and a new post.
